A pint of stardust landlord

Talk about make it hard for yourselves. After a few, let's say lapses in concentration, the rugby season's success or failure came down to one match. The result of Sunday's match against Bloxwich would decide which of us was promoted in the league. We should have had our top 2 spot wrapped up weeks ago but nevertheless, the tension added a certain something to the atmosphere in the changing room before the game.

Expecting a repeat of the pre-christmas melee, we were surprised and very pleased to come off the pitch more or less in one piece and the right side of a 28-0 victory. Promotion sealed. The end of season dinner at the club afterwards was a suitably up beat and predictably boozy affair. However SORFC claim no responsibility for this. Although rumour has it that a couple of the forwards are attempting to blag their way onto NASA's next mission armed with extra long drinking straws.

I guess congrats are in order. But 28-0... that was a walk in the park then? Or am I now providing you with all the proof you need to be absolutely sure I know nothing about rugby?

Thanks Serge. No, you're right, 28-0 was a bit of a thrashing. Certainly an unexpected result considering we bludgeoned out an 11-9 victory when we played them last. You probably know as much about rugby as I do about cycling (apart from enjoying riding my bike). If you make it over here, I'll take you to watch a game and attempt to explain why on earth the big fat man is chasing the small fast man up the pitch so he can jump on him. If I can sell it to the Monkey, I can sell it to anyone

Sounds like a brilliant plan. I should be well installed in Castle Smith by then so plenty of room to put you up in comfort.

Fingers crossed British Summertime actually arrives this year!

Mind you - I used to be a bit of a spoilt brat: jacuzzi, steam bath, golden taps... But I am willing to settle for a little less, of course. Considering that you're just starting out and all... :-D

Don't you start! the Monkey's already working on me to get a hot tub installed in the back garden.

I'll keep the fridge well-stocked, the coffee fresh and the landlord of the White Horse primed and ready. How does that sound?
